Psalm 20:4 reminds us that our true calling lies in our heart. The true callings in our heart are set to us by God. As I’ve mentioned in previous spiritual applications, the most important thing regarding our work in this world is that we sanctify our work to God and follow Jesus’s teachings. Knowing our true callings in our heart just makes the job easier. Personally, what drives me is the desire for success; however, success with the rationale of being a provider to my family in the future. It directs me in the right direction with my relationship with God and my earthly purpose because being a provider is something that was inspired by how Jesus inspired others by his teachings. In a way, being a provider is the same aspect as a Christian leader through the teachings of Jesus.

When I read this passage, it reminded me of the aspect of the free will that God gave us. We have the free will to either serve our work for good, which indicates that we serve it all to God, or choose to serve our best interests, which, in some cases, can be evil. This reminds us that at the end of the day, whether someone thinks an action is good or evil, God ultimately judges us on whether something is good or evil. Every single action that we do is eventually judged by God at the end of the day, no matter what anyone else thinks. Daily actions should have the foundation of, "Is this what Jesus would do?" God gave us free will because he loves us, and we put our trust in him; we should all ultimately make choices that follow Jesus's philosophy and whatever God intends our plan.

This passage reminds me that you should trust God's plan no matter how life goes. Generally speaking, life is unpredictable; however, all reasoning for things in life is due to God's ultimate plan for you. There will be moments in life when everything seems down; however, God allows these things to happen, all for good reason. In the passage, the anger of God rose against the strongest right before their cravings were satisfied; however, he spared the young men of Israel. Another aspect to consider from this reading is that when God gives us challenges in life, he usually gives challenges to the strongest warriors. God gives his strongest battles to his toughest warriors, knowing that they can handle it; trust in God because he wouldn't give you a challenge that you couldn't handle. Ultimately, God wants us to fully trust him given the challenges offered to us in life; it wouldn't be handled by us if God knew we couldn't handle it. All these challenges with the trust in the Lord are ultimately just a part of God's plan that will give us everlasting peace and happiness based on the lessons we learn from the challenges.
